Clean lines and practical bed care

Mulching, Edging, and Garden-Bed Work

A good bed refresh starts below the finished mulch. Existing weeds, roots, bed shape, material depth, access, and disposal needs are reviewed before the amount of work or mulch is estimated.

Scope

What an estimate can include

  • Bed cleanup and preparation described in the estimate
  • A fresh natural edge where site conditions allow
  • Mulch delivery and installation when included in the proposal
  • Cleanup of adjacent hard surfaces after installation

What is not assumed

  • Unlicensed pesticide or herbicide applications
  • Drainage, grading, irrigation, masonry, or retaining-wall work unless separately confirmed
  • Complete removal of mature invasive roots unless specifically assessed
  • Plant replacement or soil amendment unless listed
01

Who it is for

Established beds that need cleanup and definition, new bed areas that have been evaluated, and properties preparing for planting or seasonal presentation.

02

Timing and frequency

Mulch and edging can be scheduled through much of the workable season. Soil moisture, existing growth, plant timing, and access may affect the best sequence.

03

Worcester County context

New England freeze-thaw cycles can soften edges and move material. The estimate should account for the existing grade and avoid piling mulch against trunks, stems, siding, or other vulnerable surfaces.

What to expect

A straightforward estimate process

Useful details up front lead to a clearer scope and fewer surprises later.

  1. 01

Share photos and approximate bed locations or dimensions.

  2. 02

Thoren reviews preparation, edge type, mulch choice, quantity, access, and disposal.

  3. 03

The approved bed work is completed to the written finish level.

Common questions

Mulching and garden beds FAQs

How much mulch will my beds need?

That depends on the measured square footage, existing material, bed condition, and target depth. An estimate should use the actual area rather than a guess from photos alone.

Can you create a new bed edge?

A new or refreshed natural edge can be included when the layout, utilities, roots, slope, and surrounding surfaces allow it.

Do you remove all weeds before mulching?

Preparation is defined by the estimate. Hand removal, crown and root work, and disposal can require substantially different labor, so the intended level of removal must be agreed in advance.
